Cobie Smulders will return to MCU as Maria Hill in Secret Invasion

Cobie Smulders is headed back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise her role of Maria Hill in the upcoming Disney+ seri, , Christopher McDonald, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Killian Scott.

The latest: Cobie Smulders, 39, is headed back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise her role of Maria Hill in the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion. She was snapped in LA in September 

The miniseries will focus on a group of Skrulls who are able to shift shapes and have a history of infiltrating the Earth.

Smulders has portrayed the role of Hill in the MCU’s Avenger films including The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame; as well as Spider-Man: Far From Home and Captain America: Civil War.

Smulders recently played Ann Coulter in FX’s American Crime Story: Impeachment, as well as Dex Parios on the ABC show Stumptown.

She played the role of Robin Scherbatsky on the long-running CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother from 2005 thru 2014.

The 39-year-old actress again will appear alongside Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury

Speaking with the in April of 2020, she opened up about how she made the career transition from the comedy into the MCU.

‘If you’re lucky enough to get a job as an actor, I don’t think you can ever be picky,’ she said. ‘The Avengers thing came to me through my friendship with [director] Joss Whedon. We were friends, and he asked me to audition for Maria Hill. I didn’t even know who I was auditioning for.’

She noted that her husband Taran Killam, 39, ‘is such a huge comic book fan’ and ‘was really jazzed about’ her getting the role.

‘And so I was like, “Okay, this would be super fun,”‘ she said. ‘But it wasn’t anything that I was seeking out. And then when it was happening and I got to read the comics and I got into that world, it was really exciting to me.’
